30th July 2008- WEDNESDAY NIGHT SHOW AT HILL HOUSE EC -
In our first class we both went clear and there were 12 horses in the jumpofff i rode fast as i could and got a time of 29.04 secs and Leona got a close time of 30.02 secs and these fast times were not beaten resulting in Jayde and I winning the class and Leona coming second, taking most of the prizes on offere. Itfelt ace to win after such a long time and i felt motivated that i could achieve whatever i wanted.
In our second class again we both went clear, i had four faults in the jump off and a time of 26.24 where as Leona went clear again with a time of 26.03 and that resulted in fifth place for her. Overall we were very pleased although we didnt get back to the yard until 11pm and home until 12am. As a very tired family we all slept in the next day.
Yesterday we had the blacksmith to both of our horses and wormed them although the weather was awful. Now we had to concentrate on our upcoming shows, and our fun day at messingham on Sunday where Leona will be doing a bareback jumping class! Watch this space!

27th JULY 2008- MELLS FARM SHOW -
Our show at the yard is always nice and gives us a chance to relax although perhaps a little more competitive because everyone wants to be the best. In the fifth hole derby eith water tray and fillers Both Leona and i went clear resulting in a three horse jumpoff. I ended up a close second with Leona coming third.
In the seven hole derby, we both had the water tray rail down but we still ended up in 3rd position. We also did a fun class roll out the barrell, in which Leona came 2nd and i came 3rd.
An alright show, with plenty more to come the work continues.

JULY 20TH 2008- MESSINGHAM PONY OWNERS -
A week after Broughton show we headed down to messingham pony owners to jump a couple of classes. In pairs we got round fairly quickly and this resulted in us coming third place. In pre intermediate Molly went clear and had 2 in the jump off. In the intermediate Jayde also got 8 faults, we were happy to have placed in the money in pirs but not overly pleased about our other performances.

13th July 2008- BROUGHTON SHOW....
I was working til four so i agreed to let Leona take Jayde in the first class as well as her taking Molly in both horses went clear, in the jumpoff with molly first Leona tried to do a turn but ended up crashing into a jump not in the course so then from a stand still she went, her time of 35 secs in the lead at that early stage, a couple of horses later she took jayde in, going so fast she then did canter to halt on that same turn halt to canter and over the double, saving alot of time. Many horses tried to copy this wonderful riding but failed miserably. When it came to the placings Leona had won on Jayde and come in fourth place on Molly, of course she was especially pleased with winning.
Then the next class, i rode fairly well but had a bit of a mishap with the penultimate fence bringing it down and all of the fillers leaving me with four faults, however it was Leona's day and she went clear again, resulting in 6th place after the Jump off. When i saw the course for the open i nearly fainted, although ive jumped much bigger the first fence was so uninviting and i was first in. Sadly i was eliminated and we could feel Jayde tiring but to make a point Leona took her round and finished with just four faults. So apart from the open class it was a fantastic day, i may add a picture later.

P.s I also would like to say well done to all the other people from the yard especially Laura (if she's reading this) so well done...xxxx

11/07/08- AN UPDATE FROM US......
Hi guys,
I'm really sorry for letting you all down with this blog the past few months but its been pretty mad over here, i've moved yards twice due to unforseen circumstances but we're happily settled at Mells Farm now, I've had my big A level exams and i have been trying to do my best and apart from that i've been showing. Luckily i've wrote all the shows up from this year so that there isnt the big gap of six seven months and i've tried to put in plenty of new pictures for you. Now that School is finally over i will be regularly updating this blog ( between now and October for sure) and keeping it up to date, I promise. So i'll leave you with a list of upcoming events for us and a picture.
13th Jul - Broughton Show
20th Jul - Messingham pony owners
27th Jul - Mells Farm Show
Thanks to all the continued support of my family especially my grandparents, my friends old and new, my horses and all the supporters of this blog. Take Care now.

29th June 2008 - CROWLE AGRICULTURAL SHOW...-
The weather was awful, Jayde was touch and go after some swelling on her flank which left her temporarily lame and everything was running late and i was supposed to be working....
We did the first class but i had a stupid stop but Leona came 4th, then in the pairs i rode beautifully and left us in a good position but leona fell off as molly pulled a sharp turn and her stirrup come off, so always check your tack before your class. Then leona fine after her fall went in the 80cm but had a couple down, i put jayde in clear round at 90cm cos i couldnt wait around being at work and she went clear.
It was quite a fun but if i say so a very very wet and damp day.

JUNE 2008... MESSINGHAM PONY OWNERS....
The pictures above are from the previous show because i cannot get hold of the ones from this one, Firstly we did pairs and although it wasnt the best we still came fourth because of the wind everyone was finding it difficuly, although at least one of the pairs in those who came 1st and 3rd fell off which i thought a little unfair.
Then in the preintermediate i had one down but leona went clear and did a nice jump off and finished second, Then in the intermediate leona had a few stops when a water tray uplifted and flew towards her and molly putting molly off. Jayde had one stop and one down but apart from that it was a lovely round and because of the harsh conditions no one else did particularly well so we finished joint fifth. Then i went to work.

June 1st 2008 - MESSINGHAM ANNUAL HORSE AND PONY SHOW...-
I worked 11-4pm and arrived to find Leona in the novice jump off, in which she claimed she might as well as walked round with a steady (or not so steady) clear round, so she was pleasantly surprised when she came 2nd. (see pic)
So we both went in the intermediate, i had a silly two fences down and leona had three. Then i went in the open where i ended up retiring when Jayde skidded through a fence with big bloc fillers and struggled with them between her legs, she was shaken but ok and we still got some nice pictures. Although i did enjoy this show Jayde now has four studs to prevent these mishaps.

MAY 5TH 2008 - MELLS FARM SHOW-
I was the only one who competed at our home show cos Leona had too much college work and i remember arriving feeling very hung over fortunately the others at the yard found it quite amusing that i could only eat mc coys crisps.
I jumped Molly in the first Class we Came 2nd
I took Jayde in the next we went clear but then had one down in the j/o so we came fourth but they only placed to fifth. Then i took jayde in the big class it was going lovely until i fell off, anyway i got back on to come fourth in the fun class - Chase me Charlie although i was feeling a bit dizzy by now. it was a fun day only ruined by having to go to work. Now i would have to knuckle down as i had my Alevel exams approaching....

p.s the picture is just an old one from Messingham Open.
EPWORTH HUNTER TRIAL- APRIL 08-
Little did we know that today was going to be one our best days so far of the season, we started off in the novice pairs class
and both of us jumped a lovely clear round and we finished in sixth place.
Then we both went into intermediate again i jumped clear and had a lovely round finishing third and Leona finished 1st club members.
So it was a really good day for all of us at Epworth but as usual i had to dash off to work.

Bagmoor Hunter Trial - April 08.
Leona took Molly in the novice and went clear and came 3rd/4th i cant remember lol. Then we went into open pairs where i got us eliminated by jumping the wrong fence, i was quite dissapointed with myself but everyone makes mistakes and i wont be doing it again lol, so i have to move on for Epworth next week.

MESSINGHAM PONY OWNERS APRIL 08'...-
The first show of the year and we were all very excited to be out and about after an eventful winter, moving yards twice and ending up at Mells Farm, my winter exams and my 18th birthday.
Anyway firstly we did pairs, we rode quite well the only thing that let us down was our change over but we ended up sixth so we were quite pleased with that. Pre intermediate molly went clear and came 3rd and i came 5th. Then i had to leave for work at my new job as a bar maid/waitress but leona jumped jayde in the intermediate and they had one down....

01/01/08 - HAPPY NEW YEAR-
Happy new year everybody i hope 2008 brings you all the best. Jayde went for her final check on her leg just after christmas and everything is fine which is fabulous. We've started training properly again for the competitions our first likely to be on the 19th of this month at Willerby Hill. Jaydes going well thanks to Leona putting in a couple of extra hours in on her and Molly is well Molly.
I'm really looking forward to 2008 it's a big year for me. I've got to work hard at school to achieve the results for University and i want to polish off my showing career on a high. i'm definately not saying its the end of my riding and dreams but things may have to be postponed and the future with horses is far from certain. Even if this year or the next few years lead me away from horseriding showing and my dreams one things for certain i'll be back.
I've been to a few to many parties and it's time to knuckle down in what i hope will be a great new year. Wishing you all the best.

4th December - Updates from Southdale -
Since our last competition i've been really really busy with school work, applying for university for next september, choosing courses and meeting work deadlines, it's been hectic alongside riding and caring for Jayde.
Jayde and Molly are both well as is leona, i'm just on the end of a nasty throat infection which caused me to spend a week away from college and a week away from Southdale, i'm keener than ever to get back to the stables and have been back at college for a day so far and am madly trying to keep up because i want the best grades i can get so i can go to my chosen uni to do an english and education teaching degree, whilst i am there i also hope to join equestrian societies, however riding other horses without jayde will be strange im sure it will be a good experience for me.
We currently have no competitions planned until trailblazers show jumping Jan 9th providing all is well when i'll hopefully jump the 85cm/95cm or 95cm/105cm classes, up until then i'm going to be working hard to get ready for my january examinations.
I recently got a comment from America asking about my type of riding, currently i do not compete 3 day eventing as there are many disciplines in England as im sure there are in America however i compete in more than one type of discipline to keep myself occupied and my options open however i am pretty sure that sooner or later i will specialise in 3 day eventing as the one day events i have participated in have been great fun and i love dressage, cross country and showjumping until then i will continue to compete separately, i hope this answers your question, thank you.
I'll probably update you very soon, so stick with me during this busy time.

28th October - Epworth Equestrian Hunter Trials -
For the past couple of visits we had only had rain at epworth equestrian despite some ribbons and prizes we still would prefer the weather to hold, the october chill had really set in, the horses were wearing blankets we were wrapped up in winter jackets and drinking hot drinks and keeping ourselves warm before our event. Because the course at ?EEC is so long we only entered one class, the Novice Pairs, it was a challenging novice course having two water obsticles ditches etc and we were just out to have fun.
The event came up very quickly and both Jayde and Molly were jumping very well and we had a very good start setting off strongly and quickly jayde was very headstrong and raring to go unfortunately at some jumps we had some sticky patches and acquired two stops each at the different obsticles, we knew we had no chance of winning but definately enjoyed this fun day and it was well worth it.
Not knowing when our next showing would be we decided to relax our training to give us all a well deserved break.

14th October 2007 - Bagmoor Hunter Trial 2-
I cannot deny i was nervous after my fall at the last hunter trial at bagmoor but i was so much infact that for the novice pairs i took molly round instead of jayde, we did well having only 3 stops between us on the course and being only 0.3 secs off the winners time in clearing the time section, then in the novice individual we both had 20 pens each again we both cleared the time section and we had a lovely day and i even jumped off the drop which means i am now over my scare a few weeks ago.
The next show for us would be on the 28th October at Epworth Equestrian Centre for a hunter trial, also in my next update i will answer one of my reader's questions.

7th October 2007 - EDRC Hunter Trials...
We were very excited about the autumn epworth district riding club hunter trials and wanted to get out there and put some pressure on the other riders at the show, leona and i were competing in novice pairs and the individual intermediate class.
We arrived in plenty of time aand was enjoying chilling out whilst waiting for the competition when we got ready to ride there was a sudden rush to warm up because the class filtered through very quickly despite this we still rode very well having a quick time in the timed section and only getting 20pens on the main course, pleased with our performance we walked the horses to cool them off and went back to the trailer to rest before our next class.
Our next class was the intermediate i went round very well just having 20 pens at one fence due to jayde stumbling and ending up on top of the jump because unfortunately i didnt shorten her up enough but i didnt think i'd done very well, leona had two stops so we decided to call it a day and go home. A few days later we recieved a bulging envelope from EDRC to say that i had come 3rd club members in the intermediate and Leona was 4th, what a lovely surprise it was tofind out that we were both in the top 10 of the competition, we were very pleased.
Next week we would go to the second Scunthorpe pony club bagmoor hunter trial.
